MacEwan Eats

BRAND REFRESH & WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT

In 2016, MacEwan University Food Services rebranded itself as MacEwan Eats and engaged an external website company to design and build MacEwanEats.ca.

However, in 2018, the brand’s visual identity was beginning to look outdated and the website functionality was limited. The external vendor quoted our team for a number of fixes that would improve the website’s performance, but still fall short of modern standards like responsive design.

A new, tailor-made website

Instead of accepting the status quo, my colleague and I made the decision to transfer the domain, build a new website from scratch. We took this opportunity to update the brand too, including the mission and values, fonts, colours and logos.

We also staged a studio photoshoot to capture a selection of the food being served by our vendors. The MacEwan Eats website features an intuitive real-time hours function that enables MacEwan students to easily find out which vendors are open and plan their next snack accordingly. We equipped the Food Services marketing team with a suite of Canva templates for operational social media and print graphics.
